Fundraisers

Koekverkoping / Cake Sale

Each class has a turn to take part in a cake sale during the year as part of the school’s fundraising. Any delicious eats can be sent to school on the set date, and will be much appreciated.

When does it take place?
Each grade is allocated a specific date during the year.

During 1st break (10:10 – 10:30) of that specific day the learners will sell their eats in the quad.

Het die leerders hulp nodig?
No need for the parents to come – the prefects will assist the younger learners.
Is change needed?
No change needed, teacher handles the money.

Voorbeelde:

Cupcakes, donuts, chocolate eclairs, mini tarts, quiche, mini pizza or savory pies.

Civvies Day / Civvies Week

Civvies Day

On certain Fridays during the year we have a civvies day at school. Dan kry die leerders die geleentheid om gewone klere aan te trek.

It costs R5 to wear civvies for the day.

Civvies Week

Civvies week is during exams and civvies may be worn for the duration of the exams.

The cost is R10 to wear civvies for the week.

Civvies reëls rakende kleredrag

Please take note that if your child isn’t dressed  properly, we will ask you to come and fetch him/her to dress correctly.

  • Netjiese en skoon klere.
  • Girls may not wear revealing tops, skimpy shorts, or skirts shorter than four fingers above the knee. Midriffs are not allowed to show.
  • Boys underwear may not show.
  • Girls: No make-up, jewellery or cutex. Hair must please be neat and tied up.

Markdag / Market Day

Een keer ‘n jaar kry elke klas vanaf graad 1-7 die geleentheid om Markdag te hou. This gives the learners a chance to be entrepreneurs and to earn some pocket money.

When does it take place?

Skoolfoto's / School Photos

Class and Individual Photos

The class and individual (family)  photos are taken in the first term. Ons maak gebruik van ‘n professionele fotograaf wat foto’s van ‘n hoogstaande gehalte neem.

Leerders moet in die korrekte skooldrag geklee wees om op die foto te verskyn.

Sport, Kultuur en Trofeefoto's

Hierdie foto’s word in die vierde kwartaal na afloop van die prysuitdeling geneem.

Photos will only be taken when learners wear the correct clothing.

Bestellings en Betalings

We use a system in which the photos are paid for when it is ordered. This is to avoid the school ending up with unwanted photos and costs.

Die korrespondensie rakende die bestelling van foto’s, met al die nodige inligting,  word vooraf met die ouers gekommunikeer.

Ouers voltooi die bestelvorm en stuur dit, tesame met die geld, na die klasonderwyser.

Lentedag / Spring Walk

Learners (in school uniform) bring as many flowers as possible to school. Accompanied by their class teacher, they will walk around town handing out flowers to the Sedgefield community and businesses.

Hierdie is ‘n geleentheid vir ons leerders om die gemeenskap van Sedgefield te bedank vir hulle volgehoue ondersteuning.

Ons koppel gewoonlik ‘n tema aan die dag en die leerders  kan hulle eie inisiatief gebruik om hulle  te versier.

Prizes will go to the best dressed for the day.

Bonanza Fund Raiser

Our BONANZA is a yearly event to raise funds for the school.

Laerskool Sedgefield Primary is an inclusive primary school that offers quality education to all ethnic groups. The school relies on contributions from public and private beneficiaries to supplement its income, in order to cover the costs of education of our learners.

Hierdie projek is jaarliks ‘n groot sukses en al die leerders neem ywerig deel. Daar is gewoonlik groot pryse op die spel. Ons is baie dank verskuldig aan die borge wat die pryse beskikbaar stel.

 The BONANZA normally takes place in the first term. The rules are communicated to the parents.

Spellathon

What is a Spellathon?
Spellathon is a spelling challenge in which pupils are asked to spell a broad selection of words usually with a varying degree of difficulty in their home language.
When does it take place?
This fundraiser normally takes place in the second term.
How it works?
Learners will get the spelling words to study 2 days before the Spellathon. Each learner  gets sponsored per correct spelled word and after the spelling test is marked, they collect the money.

Valentynsdag / Valentines Day

Liefde is een van ons vier waardes by Laerskool Sedgefield.
Elke jaar met Valentysdag vier ons dit deur te wys dat ons omgee en dat almal spesiaal is.
This takes place on the 14th of February.
Some of the fun things we do on the day include the following:
  • For R5 you dress in civvies with something red or pink. Prizes are given for the best dressed.
  • Daar word ook kaartjies verkoop teen R2 elk wat vir jou Valentyn uitgedeel word.
  • A photo booth where you and your friends can take photos and use some props, is the highlight of the day. Photos cost R10 each.
